Today, we explore Iza's dining space, looking for inspiration and insider tips on how to find great items for your home.
Your table is a focal point in your apartment. What does a typical day around it look like?
A typical day around my table might start with a morning coffee, where I catch up on news or plan the day ahead. Before I got a desk, it was also my workspace but at the moment this is no longer the case. It’s a place for creativity, connection, and relaxation throughout the day. And in the evening, it transforms into a gathering spot for dinner, laughter, and conversation with friends and also for a romantic date with my hubby.
Food is a love language - do you agree? Is there a special recipe you would recommend to help build a stronger connection with someone?
Absolutely, food is a powerful way to express love and care. A simple yet delicious focaccia can create a warm atmosphere. Serving it can strengthen connections through the joy of sharing. Focaccia has a wonderful way of bringing people together. Its warm, inviting aroma and customizable toppings make it perfect. Also, cooking it together can be a fun and engaging activity, enhancing that connection even more. Enjoying it with friends creates lasting memories and fosters deeper bonds.
Your color palette is minimal yet warm, serving as a great guide for anyone struggling to make minimalism feel cozy. What’s the secret to achieving this look? Where are you looking for inspiration?
My secret is a focus on soft, neutral tones like beige, warm whites and taupe. Incorporating natural materials like wood and textiles to add warmth and texture. For inspiration, I always look to nature - think earthy landscapes or cozy interiors in design magazines. Combining simplicity with a few carefully chosen decor pieces, like vase or art, can make the space feel inviting without being cluttered. Balancing light and shadow is also key; natural light can enhance warmth and create a cozy atmosphere.
How do you choose your home accessories? Are there any items in your kitchen that are special to you, and if so, where did you find them?
When choosing home accessories, I prioritize functionality and aesthetics, aiming for pieces that complement the overall design of my flat. I have many special items, like a handmade candlestick that I brought from Morocco that carries a sense of history, and of course, the beautiful TUDI cast iron skillet made with great care which perfectly matches my ceramic collection. For me, each item tells a story and contributes to the cozy atmosphere of my apartment.
We know you are in the process of realizing one of your dreams—building a home. Your current space looks stunning! Which aspects of it are you planning to incorporate into your new home, and what elements will you change completely?
In my new home, I also plan to incorporate the warm color palette but more minimalistic design. Features like natural light, open spaces, and a connection to nature will be essential as our home will be located close to the lake. I’m looking to change a few elements completely, such as the kitchen - it will be an open space inviting to cook together. Balancing the familiar with fresh ideas will be key in making the new space feel uniquely mine peaceful retreat - a place for relaxation and enjoying nature.
